father of light

where did you go
when your heart didn’t beat no more?
i saw you lifeless
touched your arm
it was stiff and cold
i was a princess in your eyes
thought you would never die
a thousand angels
jam and butterflies
i know your spirit will never die
you drink light with the lord
oceans of music
you laugh and dance
you never weep
you always watch me in my sleep
i’m never fatherless
my brothers know of a spirited man
be as proud as they can
dance with the angels
or come back and play
i was broke down blue when you walked heavenwards
it took a while for my bloody eyes to dry
i remembered your smell
i saved your perfume
sometimes i smelled it and you came out new
i visit lakes
where your face reflects
