Thus it happened

Thus it happened.
Silence unveiled herself.
The stings of presence,
Left in the dewy air
That which upon one could ponder:
“Here all great emotions decay: here only little, dry emotions rattle.”*
She came to stay,
Or so it seemed.
She is a mystery to
The wanton eye.
Or so it seemed.
