Down the road

Abandon the talk,
It has gotten too serious.

The children have all fallen asleep
Under the willow tree.
The laughter
Now only hangs like a cloudy balloon,
Above tired faces and
Stiff bodies, empty of play.
They refuse to awaken,
Until the fully grown humans
have remembered,
that they too were once children.
